September 9th, 10th and 11th of 2009 in Medellin - Colombia.

Is job of the whole sector, analyze the environment and future scenarios of mining, to analyze world events that influence us. Colombia is becoming a very attractive country for large capital investment and a significant number of mining companies for its high potential for this reason it is necessary to analyze the country and participate in the design of policies that involve the mining as an agent of economic and social development, taking into account the weight of this industry in the trade balance and its socio-environmental setting.

The most vulnerable populations affected by mining activities, must be articulated to the financial system with a strengthened structure and business operation, which is reflected in the competitiveness and development of the regions significantly improving the quality of life (transport, health, education and public services in special) by exploiting the potential of the area, diminishing the historic debt that the sector has in Colombia.

To satisfy the needs of the mining sector, we must begin with the creation of strategic alliances, where academia, government, mining companies and communities could design sustainable projects that generate  richness for the country.

The Colombian Mining Congress is one of the inputs that Gemma Group and National University of Colombia made to Mining in the country. It is an academic subject that involves the social, economic, political, environmental, legal, technological and technical reality of the sector in the country.
